Turkish Airlines and Air China announced both carriers have signed a new freesale codeshare agreement.

The agreement – which will initially cover flights between Istanbul and Beijing – will also see both Turkey and China-based Star Alliance carriers transition from their current blocked space partnership.

Between Istanbul and Beijing, both Air China and Turkish Airliners offers a combined 10 weekly flights – daily with Turkish Airlines and thrice-weekly with Air China – operating to/from Beijing Capital Airport.

“This new freesale model will allow both airlines to offer greater flexibility and more travel options to passengers, enhancing connectivity between Türkiye and China, two nations of substantial strategic importance,” Turkish Airlines said in a statement. “This agreement underscores the commitment of Turkish Airlines and Air China to facilitate seamless travel experiences and strengthen bilateral ties.”

Turkish Airlines added both airlines anticipate that the collaboration will contribute to a significant increase in passenger traffic, fostering mutual growth and benefiting the wider aviation industry.
